Biography
Born and raised in Yakima, WA, and being a Mexican American woman, Elsie has a variety of experiences in multicultural and bilingual learning and education where her passion grew to assure that all young diverse children receive the education they deserve.
She has extensive experience in early childhood settings and has received her Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood and Family Studies: Teaching and Learning at UW College of Education. Overtime, her passion grew to working in policy and creating a voice for early childhood educators. So, she joined Cultivate Learning, an early learning research and practice program, as a Community Liaison supporting early childhood providers through the state’s Quality Recognition Improvement System.
To expand her knowledge on early childhood policy she is now pursing a Masters in the Early Childhood Policy Specialization M.Ed. program and hopes to improve early childhood teaching and learning through our state and federal policies.
