Their mission is to honor and nurture each student&#8217;s unique skills, talents, and passions while fostering a welcoming and respectful atmosphere. BISD emphasizes the importance of social and emotional health alongside academic performance, recognizing diversity as a learning tool in a successful inclusive community. District wide, staff are committed to building strong relationships and promoting empathy and critical thinking to support students in life after K-12 education.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In an effort to reduce restraint and eliminate isolation, and to support students&#8217; overall well-being, BISD is deep in the work of social, emotional, and behavioral MTSS tiered supports\/systems. Using OSPI&#8217;s MTSS framework, BISD is focusing on data in this area of MTSS to use at the forefront of student meetings, team meetings, and district decision-making. BISD continues to solidify SEL curricula and weekly time dedicated to SEL Tier 1 supports K-12. Counselors, social workers, and additional staff support with targeted Tier 2 and Tier 3 SEL work.
