System change can\u00a0feel not fast enough with the\u00a0urgency to\u00a0ensure inclusive school experiences\u00a0for all students,\u00a0especially students farthest from educational justice, students\u00a0of color and students\u00a0with disabilities.\u00a0The inclusionary practices project (IPP) that began in 2019 has expanded to the Inclusionary Practices\u00a0Technical Assistance Network\u00a0(IPTN). \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>While many students with disabilities have benefited from Washington&#8217;s increased investment in inclusionary practices, state data show that some student groups are still disproportionately excluded from general education. Specifically, two groups of students continue to be systematically excluded from general education settings are:&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Students with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) and&nbsp;<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Black students eligible for special education services&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;The IPTN is committed to addressing these inequities by explicitly targeting systems and practices that limit choice and opportunity for these student groups. &nbsp;&nbsp;To address, the IPTN is &nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Focusing on students with IDD, black students who are eligible for special education services and early learning in non-segregated settings and reducing restraint and eliminating isolation.&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Systems change occurs incrementally over time.
