{"id":4879,"date":"2023-06-08T19:16:22","date_gmt":"2023-06-08T19:16:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.education.uw.edu\/technologycenter\/?p=4879"},"modified":"2024-08-07T18:47:08","modified_gmt":"2024-08-07T18:47:08","slug":"panopto-retention-policy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stg.education.uw.edu\/technologycenter\/uw-resources\/panopto-retention-policy\/","title":{"rendered":"Panopto Retention Policy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>To comply with the <a href=\"https:\/\/finance.uw.edu\/recmgt\/managing\/records\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">University of Washington\u2019s records retention policies<\/a> \u2014 and to adapt to a new Panopto contract that charges for the number of recordings created, archived and stored \u2014 UW Information Technology will begin implementing a retention policy for Panopto recordings in June.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>June 12, 2023: recordings not viewed in the previous 24 months will be archived in Panopto. If needed, you will be able to retrieve and view them.<\/li>\n<li>December 18, 2023:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Delete<\/strong> recordings created or edited <strong>more than five years prior<\/strong> and that <strong>have not been viewed<\/strong> <strong>in the previous 12 months<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Archive<\/strong> recordings not viewed in the previous 18 months.<\/li>\n<li>Deleted recordings can be <strong>retrieved<\/strong> from the recycle bin within 90 days of deletion.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>UW IT recommends you to <a href=\"https:\/\/support.panopto.com\/s\/article\/How-to-Download-Video-or-Audio-Streams-as-MP4s\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">download<\/a> any recordings you want to keep and to <a href=\"https:\/\/support.panopto.com\/s\/article\/Recycle-Bin-and-Permanently-Delete\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">delete<\/a> recordings no longer needed.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-button-group stk-block-button-group stk-block stk-d8761d5\" data-block-id=\"d8761d5\">\n<div class=\"stk-row stk-inner-blocks stk-block-content stk-button-group\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-button stk-block-button stk-block stk-c7712a1\" data-block-id=\"c7712a1\"><a class=\"stk-link stk-button stk--hover-effect-darken\" title=\"Panopto Retention policy\" href=\"https:\/\/itconnect.uw.edu\/tools-services-support\/teaching-learning\/panopto\/data-retention\/\"><span class=\"stk-button__inner-text\">Panopto Data Retention Policy<\/span><\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>To comply with the University of Washington\u2019s records retention policies \u2014 and to adapt to a new Panopto contract that charges for the number of recordings created, archived and stored \u2014 UW Information Technology will begin implementing a retention policy for Panopto recordings in June.
