Carly Roberts

Associate Professor

My research involves partnering with schools, teachers, and families to improve the educational experiences of students with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Specifically, my recent scholarship and teaching focuses on supporting teachers in taking up expansive and critical perspectives of inclusive education by reflecting on their own identities and agency and designing and sustaining classroom communities that better support all learners. I primarily use qualitative inquiry in my research but also partner with other scholars to leverage mixed methods approaches that apply collaborative, interdisciplinary perspectives to advance inclusive education and educator preparation. I currently teach and advise students across the graduate teacher education (Special Education and Elementary Education) programs and doctoral (Special Education and Teacher Education) programs in the College of Education.
