Crystal Visperas

Graduate Admissions, Enrollment, and Student Support Adviser

Crystal Visperas (she/her) is an educator of 15 years who has formerly taught in Houston, Texas, International District in Seattle and Sammamish on the east side. Crystal has taught several grades ranging from kindergarten to 5th grade to 12th grade AP Literature and finds her favorite subject to teach is American History. Crystal is transitioning from Seattle Teacher Residency (one of the CoE's MIT teacher education programs) as the Recruitment Manager and UW Instructional Coach for elementary teacher candidates. Crystal earned her BA from the University of Texas at Austin in Elementary Education and Childhood Studies and MS in Curriculum and Instruction. As an educator, Crystal is rooted in abolitionist pedagogy and practices, direct action and community organizing, instructional coaching with BIPOC early career teachers, and truth-telling in K-12 curriculum.

In her spare time, Crystal tends to her 200 plants, uses naps as resistance from grind culture and enjoys 90s Hip-Hop.
