Office of Student Services

The role of the Office of Student Services (OSS) is to assist students with College of Education, Graduate School, and UW policies or procedures; initiate processes and obtain forms; and refer students to other campus offices/services when needed. OSS also manages the application and admission process for the College and maintains student records. In addition, staff can help students resolve unique problems or situations. OSS is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. They can be reached at 206-543-7834 or edinfo@uw.edu.  Note that for spring quarter, the 206 Office is open 9am-3pm Monday through Friday.

The following are examples of questions and concerns that students should present to OSS:

  • Application/admission questions (for current students who wish to apply to new programs or degrees within the College)
  • Changing faculty advisers (process; can consult faculty to determine best advising fit)
  • Degree completion steps, deadlines, and requirements
  • Forms for various processes and procedures
  • Funding questions (including College scholarships and RA/TA positions)
  • Graduation final steps, deadlines, and logistics
  • Final Exam registration and general information
  • On-leave status questions and forms
  • Petition information and processes
  • Referrals to other College and UW resources/offices
  • Research & Inquiry registration and general information
  • Transferring or applying previous coursework (requirements and processes; can consult faculty advisers about applicability of previous courses)
  • Troubleshooting of unique problems or situations
