Three College of Education students named to 2021 cohort of the Husky 100
Three UW College of Education students have been named in this year's cohort of the Husky 100.
"The Husky 100 include undergraduates and graduate students who have founded start-ups, conducted research and advocated for social justice. They work on campus and in our communities. They are leaders and innovators. The one thing they share is that they are all making the most of their time as Huskies. Through their coursework, research, volunteer and leadership efforts, internships and jobs, they have created their own Husky Experience," said UW Provost Mark Richards.

Toelau Ronalei Gasetoto
“'Our ancestors planted the seeds so that we can inherit the shade.' Talofa. I am a proud daughter to parents who migrated here from American Samoa. As a Pacific Islander, I’m finding ways to transform my research to center Pasifika knowledge and intellect. My Husky Experience carries the resilience, respect, and responsibility that my ancestors and family continue to teach/guide me with. O le agaga fa’afetai tele i o’u aiga uo ma e ua masani mo le lagolagoina o la’u taumafaiga."
Jemiris Gonzalez-De Jesus
"Without community, I am just Jem but with community, my core values of community unity, belonging, and uplifting our neighbors to be successful by their own definition are unshaken by the trials and dilemmas I have experienced. A long standing personal mantra of mine is from Ramshackle Glory’s lyrics, 'Your heart is a muscle, the size of your fist, keep on loving, keep on fighting, and hold on for your life.' Thank you and I wish you all peace of mind and unconditional, safe love."
Megan Sellman
"As a dancer, choreographer, and educator, UW has offered me many opportunities for self-discovery, artistry, and community cultivation. I have discovered how an embodied practice can be more virtuosic than a flawlessly executed leap, how a few words can create an alive and dynamic impromptu performance, and how holding an open and vulnerable space is essential for learning and creativity. I am thankful to the many mentors who have shaped and enhanced my educational experience."
Each year, the Husky 100 recognizes 100 undergraduate and graduate students from the UW Bothell, Seattle and Tacoma campuses in all areas of study who are making the most of their time at the UW. These students actively connect what happens inside and outside of the classroom and apply what they learn to make a difference on campus, in their communities and for the future.
