ibestt: Integrating Behavior Supports and Team Technology

Engaging students with chronic problem behaviors isn’t easy. But it's a challenge that many schools, teachers, and parents must face.

UW educational researchers, in their work to understand how schools implement individual behavior supports, partnered with elementary and middle schools. They wanted to learn how school teams were helping teachers support students with chronic problem behaviors. The teams were looking for better ways to streamline and organize the behavior support process, track student progress, communicate with teachers, and access information quickly.

As the teams faced challenges in their efforts to design and implement behavioral interventions in the classroom, UW researchers listened and observed. In response, they developed ibestt, an online coaching and collaboration tool. ibestt organizes and clarifies each step of the behavior intervention process, and guides school teams as they help teachers meet the social and behavioral needs of their students.
