Northwest Center for Excellence in Media Literacy

A major focus of the NW Center for Excellence in Media Literacy is the use of media as a hook to engage children, teens and adults in the study of health issues, ranging from nutrition and physical activity to sexual and reproductive health, body image, prevention of the use of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs, and violence prevention.

The NW Center designs and develops media literacy education materials. Curriculum modules it has designed addressing specific health issues such as sexual and reproductive health and tobacco prevention have been pilot tested with thousands of children and youth in both school and community settings.
