Psychologists with the University of Washington CARE Clinic diagnose and treat a range of neurodevelopmental disabilities, from autism and Asperger's syndrome to learning disabilities and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. Samuel E. Kelly was a former faculty member at the College and the UW's first Vice President for the Office of Minority Affairs. Each year, the UW hosts an annual Samuel E. Kelly Distinguished Faculty Lecture, honoring his vision for equity in society. This year's lecture features Professor Richard Ladner of the UW Department of Computer Science and Engineering, who is also an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and has focused much of his research on the use of technology to improve the lives of people with disabilities, particularly the deaf and blind communities.
